American democracy has survived intense and violent polarization in the recent past: the 1930s and 1960s. While the current one is in some ways unique, there are also lessons to be learned from earlier experience, as well as the experience of other countries where nonviolent movements ended dictatorships. Presented by George Lakey, whose background in academia and social movements prepares him to offer hope for a way forward post-election, whatever the outcome.
