This community event is designed to educate, empower, and unite families, youth, and local businesses while honoring the legacy, achievements, creativity, and resilience of Black history and culture.
Vendors are expected to set up from 9:00 AM to 11:30 Am. Public event activities start at 12:00 PM and end at 5:00 PM, the culminating Main Event performance will start at 6:00 PM, and end at 8:00 PM with a Soul Food Buffet.
The Black History Celebration will include:
• Vendor Marketplace
Local small businesses, authors, entrepreneurs, and community service organizations will have tables to showcase products, services, resources, and culturally relevant merchandise. Our goal is to support and promote Black-owned businesses and community partners.
• Workshop Sessions
Interactive mini-sessions focused on topics such as financial literacy, entrepreneurship, education, health awareness, youth leadership, and preserving our heritage. These workshops are meant to give practical information that our families can take home and use immediately.
• Kid Zone
A safe and supervised children’s area with age-appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, reading corner, cultural games, and positive youth engagement. This space is meant to keep children involved, learning, and inspired.
• Health Fair
Health and wellness partners will provide information and screenings, and connect families with local resources focused on nutrition, mental health, preventive care, and overall well-being in our community.
• Stage Performances
Live performances and presentations highlighting Black culture and excellence. This includes dance, spoken word, music, and student showcases. This stage will also be used to acknowledge community leaders, youth achievement, and positive role models.
Purpose / Community Impact
This event is not just a celebration; it is an educational and community service program. We are creating a space where youth and families can access information, motivation, and opportunity in one place — business, health, culture, education, and the arts under one roof. Our goal is to uplift our community, highlight Black history and talent, and provide resources that strengthen families.
Space Needs
We are requesting the Ballroom at First District Plaza on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM to host the above activities, including vendor tables, workshop areas, Kid Zone, health fair stations, and a main stage area for performances and speakers.
Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to the opportunity to partner with First District Plaza to present this positive, family-focused Black History Celebration to the community.
