Curator Conversation featuring Peter Paone and Laura Igoe

Peter Paone’s still life paintings are a fascinating blend of personal narrative, symbolic depth, and theatrical composition. His approach—drawing from Dutch vanitas traditions—adds layers of meaning to everyday and unusual objects, inviting viewers to reflect on mortality, memory, and the passage of time. According to the artist, “for me, still life painting is much more than a composition of household goods, it’s a gathering from a journey of a life lived...my task is to compose my stories with objects draped in color performing together on a tabletop stage in a framed theater.” Join us for a conversation between Laura Igoe, Gerry and Marguerite Lenfest Chief Curator and Peter Paone. They will explore the approximately forty recent paintings by the artist along with examples of his drawings that inspired his finished still life paintings that are included in the exhibition. Following the talk, Peter Paone will be available to sign exhibition catalogues which can be purchased in the Michener Gift Shop.
