Marie Fischerová - Kvěchová is one of the most beloved Czech illustrators of all times. Between WWI and WWII she published countless books and illustrated many more, created several paper nativity scenes, ...
After the Communist coup in 1948, she was banned from publishing due to her deep-rooted Christian values and natural religiosity of much of her art. Yet, she never stopped painting—portraying her family, friends, and the world around her. She also loved to travel to ethnographic areas of Bohemia and Moravia, preserving the beauty of traditional folk costumes (kroje) through her stunning artwork.
Greeting cards with her art are available at our museum gift store.
Our museum is admission free.
