Native Gardens by Karen Zacarias

When expecting parents Tania and Pablo Del Valle move in next door to longtime residents Virginia and Frank Butley, a dispute over their yard’s property line spirals into an epic, flower-flinging war over taste, class, personal identity...and gardening. Pablo is anxious to make partner at his new law firm, and as he plans a backyard barbecue for them, it inflames the tension over the future of the Butley’s “perfect” backyard. Cultures clash and bad behavior reigns as the two sets of well-intentioned neighbors become feuding enemies. Will these couples ever learn to love their neighbors and mend the fences that separate them? “Guthrie’s ‘Native Gardens’ is the best stage comedy of the summer” – Star Tribune “Native Gardens is a true breath of comic fresh air. It’s a biting, perceptive, and ultimately hopeful sendup to our fraught relationships with those around us – even right next door. Beyond snappy one-liners and garden hose fights, the play challenges audiences to look beyond petty differences and rediscover our shared decency.” – DC Theatre Scene “...it’s a perfect summer play. It has sharp, witty writing, lots of laughs...a sense of currency and immediacy...Everything about it clicks and hums.” – Minnesota Post Show Times: Friday, May 23rd at 8:00 PM Saturday, May 24th at 8:00 PM Thursday, May 29th at 7:30 PM **$15 tickets Thursday only** Friday, May 30th at 8:00 PM Saturday, May 31st at 8:00 PM Sunday, June 1st at 2:00 PM *popular - order in advance* Thursday, June 5th at 7:30 PM**$15 tickets Thursday only** Friday, June 6th at 8:00 PM Saturday, June 7th at 8:00 PM Sunday, June 8th at 2:00 PM *popular - order in advance*
