FIT Summer Precollege Program

FIT Precollege offers unique experiential learning opportunities in fields as diverse as the students themselves, including fashion, advertising, illustration, interior design, fine arts, business and more. Options include both four and ten-day courses taught on campus, with remote options available. This program is ideal for students interested in gaining hands-on experience as they start planning–and dreaming–about their futures. Financial support is available to qualifying students. All students are welcome! Some register with a BFF and travel to class together, others register independently and make new friends. For all, the FIT experience makes for a summer that is both educational and inspirational! In addition to NYC and the tri-state area, students annually enroll from across the U.S. and abroad. Precollege Programs for High School Students Entering Grades 9-12; Prices Start at $440 Highlights: Portfolio Skills for Interior Designers HID 031: Learn to see and think like an interior designer. Create observational perspective drawings of interiors, develop a concept sketchbook, construct a 3D interior model. Wearable Sculpture HSX 027: A course that offers a space to showcase creative expression and artistic freedom, blurring the lines between sculpture and garment. Think Alexander McQueen, Iris van Herpen, and Comme des Garçons. By exploring the body as a form of interaction, space, and expression, students will engage in a dynamic dialogue between fashion, architecture, and sculpture. Through experimentation with unconventional materials, students will push creative boundaries and develop bold, life-size wearable art. Short Film: Concept to Completion HFI 010: Gain hands-on experience, utilizing cinematic techniques like lighting, framing, and editing to captivate viewers. Collaborate with fellow aspiring filmmakers under the guidance of an experienced instructor to create your own short film and deliver impactful messages through storytelling. Great for building a college portfolio; skills can also be applied to enhance social media content. Remote courses include The World of Fashion Business, Fashionpreneur: How to Launch and Build a Successful Fashion Brand, Inside the Fashion Designer's Studio: From Sketch to Success, and more Precollege Programs for Middle School Students Entering Grades 7-9; Prices start at $470.00 Fashion Design, From Drawing to Runway JSX 050: Learn the steps needed to make ‘FASHION RUNWAY’ dreams a reality, translating inspiration into fashion sketches and mood/design boards. The Art of Photography JSX 005: Learn how to use a digital camera like a professional! Work with: F/stops, shutter speeds, lighting accommodations, depth of field, white balance, and exposure settings. Fashion Avatar & Gaming JSX 021: Explore the exciting intersection of fashion and gaming! Students will design unique fashion avatars and outfits using digital and physical design techniques. They’ll discover how gaming shapes fashion trends and present their creations virtually. Remote courses include Global Fashion Designers and Icons, and more.
