Author Talk with Queens Borough Historian Jason Antos: Flushing (Then and Now)

In the 1890s, electric lighting and improved roads were just the beginning of the sweeping changes that would reshape Flushing, New York. Once a rural village of wide-open farms and grand estates, Flushing transformed into a thriving community of more than 200,000 people and soon became one of the busiest neighborhoods in Queens.

The Bayside Historical Society is excited to welcome back author and local historian Jason Antos for a fascinating presentation exploring this remarkable transformation. In his latest book, Flushing (Then and Now), Jason explores the dramatic evolution of this ever-growing city through many never-before-seen images. Side-by-side historical and contemporary photographs juxtapose past and present, offering a unique perspective on Flushing’s rich history and evoking nostalgia while capturing the modern-day landscape of this beloved Queens neighborhood. Autographed copies of Flushing (Then and Now) will be on sale following the presentation.
