New Orleans music scene (like its legendary Jazz Festival) has outgrown its strict reliance on jazz. But why? What makes NOLA’s live scene so varied and abundant, and still thriving decades after jazz’s peak? To find out, we sought out a reliable source: Lefty Parker of Euclid Records, the best used record store in the city. Not only did Parker spend a decade managing some of New Orleans livelier venues, but he still plays in them, in what he says is a “deconstructed rock and roll band.”
