Feeding Families Foundation's Winter Virtual Golf Classic: Fore! Parents of Hospitalized Children
On Saturday, January 25, 2024, Feeding Families Foundation will hold its second annual “Winter Virtual Golf Classic: Fore! Parents of Hospitalized Children” at Golf Cove in North Haven. Teams of at least 4 players will play 9-hole scramble. Tickets for golfers are $100 per person. Tickets for supporters not playing in the event are $65 per person. There are several sponsorship opportunities for local businesses. There will be an open bar, appetizers, and a food truck for the duration of the event. Feeding Families Foundation, Inc. is a charitable organization working to eliminate hospital food insecurity for parents of hospitalized children. Feeding Families Foundation’s Parent Plate Program addresses food affordability and accessibility issues parents often face when caring for their child in the hospital by covering the cost of caregiver meals and by having those meals delivered to the room so parents do not need to leave their child’s bedside or spend money on food when their child is inpatient. By partnering with children’s hospitals, the Parent Plate Program utilizes the hospital’s existing food service infrastructure to provide food to parents. When a parent orders a tray for their child, they can also order one for themselves paid for by Feeding Families Foundation. The Program does not require any application or proof of financial need – the goal is to feed caregivers and alleviate some of the financial burden on parents when their child is in the hospital so they can get back to what matters most – caring for their child.
