As the effects of climate change continue to be felt across the country, extreme weather events have become more common and present real risks to our communities. Join Fire Control Officer James Bryan from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Forest Protection Program for an introduction to the basics of wildfires and steps you can take to lessen the risks to your home and property. This presentation will also include discussion on daily Forest Fire Danger, Prevention, and Control.
The mission of DEEP’s Forestry Division is to advance the health, use, conservation, and appreciation of Connecticut’s forest resource. They are a part of the Bureau of Natural Resources, which is charged with managing the State’s natural resources (particularly fish, wildlife, and forests) through a program of research, management, public education, and regulation. The Forestry Division comprises several important programs that work together to conserve and manage forests.
