Swinging Saturdays Season Finale
The Season Finale of Swinging Saturdays, a free jazz, dance, and recording arts education program for students ages 12 through high school from the greater New Haven region presented by Litchfield Performing Arts, takes place on June 6 at 6:30 p.m. at ECA's Arts Hall, 55 Audubon St., New Haven.
The evening features a live jazz performance by distinguished faculty — including saxophonists Kris Allen, Albert Rivera, and Andrew Hadro, pianist Jen Allen, bassist Avery Sharpe, and drummer Ian Carroll — followed by a Student Showcase in which program participants will show off what they have learned. The New York City-based Matthew Westerby Dance Company, also program instructors, will perform a full dance production.
Made possible by a grant from the Connecticut State Department of Education, Swinging Saturdays introduced students to jazz history, instrumental music, recording arts, and dance styles including tap, hip-hop, and Latin — all free of charge.
Free and open to the public.
