Please join us for a symposium exploring the overlap of public policy, conservation, and public activism, specifically celebrating the 50th anniversary of West Rock Ridge State Park.
Dedicated to the work of the late Dr. Stephen Collins, a former biology professor at SCSU, the symposium will focus on West Rock Ridge State Park in New Haven and the importance of preserving the environment. Collins was a founding member of the West Rock Ridge Park Association, which successfully lobbied the General Assembly to pass legislation to create the park, which was unanimously approved. The symposium will highlight the significance of the intersection of Humanities and Science through the History of Science, Public Ecology, and Political Science. Generously funded by CTHumanities Grant.
Keynote Speaker:
Representative Mary Mushinsky
Panel Speakers:
Dr. Miriah Kelly, Professor of Environment, Geography, and Marine Sciences, Southern Connecticut State University
Dr. Danica Doroski, Urban Forestry Coordinator, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection
