Introductory community meeting -- AFSOC

Glory to Jesus the Christ!! Glory to Him forever! Are you looking for a closer connection with God? Do you feel that "hip & trendy" churches are not meeting your deep spiritual needs? Are you tired of feeling that you need to wear earplugs to a "rock concert" church service? And yet, have you been wary of previous exposures to "formal religion"? If you answered "yes" to those questions, then you should learn more about the Ancient Future Scriptural Online Church (AFSOC). Pastor Tom Kovach (rhymes with "watch") will host an introductory community meeting at the Whataburger restaurant located at 11190 Lebanon Road in Mount Juliet. Dinner is "pay as you go". The meeting starts at 1830 hours (that's 6:30pm for civilians...). There will be a brief presentation, followed by a Questions & Answers session. (And, you won't need to bring any earplugs...! Grin.) The AFSOC style of worship is patterned after the ancient style of the Orthodox Church, but without those elements that deviate from the commands of the Holy Bible. For example, our pastor is not referred to as "father", and we do not pray to any saints. But, we do retain that sense of "reverent awe" toward God, as clearly described in the Book of Psalms. In other words, AFSOC strives to be as close to a "Book of Acts church" as possible. Pastor Tom studied to become ordained as an Orthodox priest, but then declined to become one -- largely because of certain practices that he saw were clearly prohibited by the commands of Scripture. He attended various Orthodox parishes for 25 years, and then attended Protestant congregations for about 23 years. He decided to merge the rich beauty of Orthodox-style worship with the zeal of Protestant preaching, and then launch an independent congregation. Unlike most congregations, which start in a building and then add an online outreach, AFSOC started online and is now seeking to add a physical location in Mount Juliet. Ancient Future Scriptural Online Church won't experience any noise complaints, because there is no amplified music. True worship comes from the heart. And so, we are seeking people that want to worship God "in spirit and in truth", and to live out God's commands in their daily lives. If that is you, then please meet Pastor Tom at dinnertime and bring your questions. (NOTE: Many of your questions can be answered in advance by reading the About page of the AFSOC site [click link]. Many deepter questions can be answered by reading the Doctrine page of the same site.)
