The Sumner County Master Gardeners Association is a non-profit group is associated the University of Tennessee Agriculture Extension service, and promotes gardening through education, environmental stewardship and volunteer projects throughout Sumner County.
The plant sale will include a large variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers, plus native plants, seedlings and several hot pepper varieties grown by Master Gardeners.
The festival includes wildlife sessions led by certified Tennessee naturalists; jewelry and crafts from local artisans; and local businesses selling food and beverages.
Proceeds help fund volunteer projects across the county and scholarships for students attending Volunteer State Community College. Projects include a demonstration garden at Vol State; raised vegetable and flower gardens at Shalom Zone in Gallatin; a Monarch butterfly waystation, seed exchange and pollinator garden at Hendersonville Public Library; community gardens in Goodlettsville, Portland and Westmoreland; and gardens at historic sites including Mansker’s Station in Goodlettsville and Rock Castle in Hendersonville.
