Rosemount Community Band Free Pops Concert

The Rosemount Community Band (RCB) will play selections from “Wicked” at their free Pops Concert on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at The Well in Rosemount. The concert is free and open to the public and attendees are encouraged to bring donations of diapers and canned goods. The Well, a United Methodist Church, is located at 14770 Canada Avenue West in Rosemount. The RCB Pops Concert will feature popular music from stage and screen including selections from “Wicked”, “Wizard of Oz” and “West Side Story”. Additionally, since the concert is on May 4th, which is recognized as Star Wars Day and includes the motto, “May the 4th be with you”, the band will play a tribute piece. Other selections will include “Make Our Garden Grow” (from “Candide”), “Scarborough Fair”, “St. Thomas” and the theme from “The Magnificent Seven”. The RCB’s upcoming Summer Concert will be played on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the bandshell at Rosemount’s Central Park as part of the Leprechaun Days Celebration. In the fall, the RCB will perform a very special Commission Concert to premiere a newly composed piece of music in honor of their founder and former director, John Zschunke. The concert will be played on November 16, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley. Currently, the piece is being written by world-renowned composer Jodie Blackshaw, a native of Australia who will be in attendance for the premiere. Also, the Minnesota Winds from Edina will join the RCB for this concert. The RCB is still raising funds for the Commission Project through their GoFundMe at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/fund-RCB-commissioning-project . The all-volunteer RCB, which started in September 2011, is composed of adult musicians from Rosemount, Apple Valley, Eagan and other areas of the south metro. Members range in age from the 20s through the 80s, have various skill levels and all share a love of music and performing for the community. The band's director, Tom Maeck, has over 40 years of experience in directing both community and high school bands.
