The performances by Phoenix Chinese Dance Academy always leave the audience delighted and inspired. This year’s annual production, Ablaze with Color, promises to be just as captivating! As the ancient Chinese ancestors explored the mysteries of the universe, the Five Elements (Wuxing) theory—centered on Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water—was born. These five elements, drive the creation and transformation of all things. Corresponding to the five elements are the five colors—Green, Red, Yellow, White, and Black— which infuse vibrancy into the humbleness of daily life. These colors encapsulate the essence of all creation. Over centuries of cultural evolution, they have formed a uniquely enchanting Chinese “palette.” The Phoenix Chinese Dance Academy’s annual production show, “Ablaze with Color”, draws its inspiration from these five color families, seamlessly blending them with China’s rich traditions, cultural customs, and historical heritage. Through an array of dynamic dance forms and stunning costume designs, this production presents audiences with a vivid and deeply evocative visual experience, bringing to life a stage that radiates with color and profound meaning.
