Mission Statement
Larkspur Reed Trio (oboe, English horn, clarinet) is a chamber music ensemble comprised of innovative and cross-disciplinary women. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, the ensemble is dedicated to high-quality performance, education, and community outreach. Larkspur is committed to collaborating with professionals from all genres and creative outlets, with a particular focus on expanding the repertoire for this unique ensemble by commissioning new works by historically underrepresented composers. Through increasing the visibility of chamber music and chamber music ensembles, Larkspur aims to inspire a wide range of audiences, artists, and supporters of the arts.
Short Ensemble Bio
Since the organization’s inception, the ensemble has performed at The International Clarinet Association conference in Denver, Colorado, Dublin, Ireland, and Forth Worth, Texas, and they performed at the International Double Reed Society Conference in Flagstaff, AZ. The trio has a strong passion for music education working to reach youth around the world through live performance and educational videos. With a grant from the Minnesota Regional Arts Council the trio collaborated with author Alexandra Alessandri and composer Alejandra Odgers to create a brand new musical story with the children’s story Isabel and Her Colores Go To School. The program was performed live in Minnesota libraries and throughout Tennessee and Kentucky. The video is available at no cost in both English and Spanish on the ensemble’s YouTube page. The ensemble has presented their “Educational Entrepreneurship: Creating Your Own Path as Performers” presentation at the College Music Society Conference in Washington, DC and ClarinetFest in Fort Worth, TX. The trios next venture is “From Sea to Sky,” a program for adults about phenomenal women and their impressive stories. The ensemble will share this program at retirement communities and nursing homes throughout Minnesota.
