Christmas in Golden Valley: Celebrate the season with timeless delights that inspire wonder and joy
The Golden Valley Orchestra performs holiday favorites including Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, the Nutcracker Suite, finished with an audience singalong of carols of the season
Feed your holiday spirit with beautiful music and lift your voice to join the chorus. Golden Valley Orchestra, under the direction of David Carrillo, continues its 2024-25 season with a festive afternoon of holiday music – including a special audience singalong.
Christmas in Golden Valley takes place at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Golden Valley Lutheran Church, located at 5501 Glenwood Avenue in Golden Valley. A reception of holiday treats follows the program.
Our program opens with two beloved holiday works in the classical repertoire. Audiences will delight in the various seasonal Corelli’s "Christmas" Concerto evokes, showcasing our talented violinists Will Samorey and Steven DeNiro. Our selection of pieces from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite is a lineup of familiar favorites and features a grand finale that evokes a parade of toys.
At the end of the program, the audience is welcome to sing along as we perform a special selection of holiday carols, culminating in a rousing rendition of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.

ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA
The Golden Valley Orchestra (GVO) was first established as a reading orchestra at Golden Valley Lutheran College in 1968. When the closing of the college took place in the early 80's, the orchestra was fortunate to receive funding from the city of Golden Valley to become the Golden Valley Orchestra (GVO) in 1985. Today the GVO is one of Minnesota's oldest community orchestras and celebrates its 56th season of giving beautiful music back to the community.
Made up of amateur and semi-professional musicians from various socio-economic backgrounds, the orchestra continues to be a viable part of the metro community. As part of its mission the GVO works to be arts advocates and bridge the gap between youth orchestras, the Minnesota Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and other professionally paid arts organizations.
