Unite for Earth Day 2026 - April 20th - Girl Scouts & Scouting America Scouts - Orono, MN


In 2026, we plan to bring together Girl Scouts and Scouting America Scouts to again Unite for Earth Day at the Orono Nature Center for Education and Conservation. EARTHDAY.ORG, together with partners worldwide, announced the global theme for Earth Day 2026: Our Power, Our Planet—a rallying cry for people everywhere to reclaim their voice, their rights, and their future. For Education, we will offer the “Nature Cat Explorer” Patch, plus the Cabot Creamery “B the Change” Vinyl Sticker. For Conservation, it is cleaning up the Orono Nature Center. - Unite for Earth Day 2026 will be held at the Orono Nature Center & Learning Pavilion (Behind Orono Intermediate & Elementary Schools), 685 N. Old Crystal Bay Road, Long Lake/Orono, MN. Check-in/out at the Pavilion. Please park in actual parking areas and respect the "No Parking" signs on the road. To get to the pavilion, take the road behind the Intermediate School, accessible from Wayzata Blvd, or go from Orono High School past Orono's Pesonen Stadium. •This is a come when you can and stay however long you would like between 2:30 and 8 pm. Some groups will choose to come together at a designated time. Please provide appropriate supervision for your scouts/children. Our event is open to scouts, family, and friends. •Please dress appropriately for the weather and for work. Work gloves are recommended. Please bring a filled water bottle and an optional snack for yourself. - For Education, we will offer activity stations to complete programs. •The "Nature Cat Explorer" patch program will be offered. Have fun with some outdoor exploration. (We will have over 100 free patches onsite.) •The Cabot Creamery's "B the Change" vinyl sticker program will also be offered. Help your group understand how they can make positive changes in their communities, just as B Corps have a positive impact in the communities they serve. (We will have over 100 free vinyl stickers onsite.) •Rose "Make the World a Better Place" Daisy Petal will be offered to Daisy Girl Scouts (K-1st Grade). They have the opportunity to complete their petal with their leaders/adults. Learn how you can make a difference in the world around you and beyond. (Note: we do not give the petal out.) - For Conservation, areas in need of clean-up. One popular activity of pulling Buckthorn will return as an option using the Wood Weed Wrenches. •Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, & Venturers are able to use the time spent for Conservation or Service hours needed for advancement and badges. •Girl Scouts are able to use the time spent for badge requirements as appropriate. •Cadette/Senior/Ambassador Girl Scouts may use the hours toward Service to Community Bars. •Volunteers may be able to use this for High School or other organizations’ Volunteer Hour requirements. •Everyone experiences the joy of doing good and making an impact, all while forming new friendships. - Supporters: If you would like to help run a station and/or are part of a business/organization that would like to contribute their support to our event, don't hesitate to get in touch with our event organizer, Ms. Mellissa, at [email protected].
