The Anishinaabe Approach to the Circle of Life


The Anishinaabe people face many challenges in their effort to retain their traditions and culture for the future, a way of living referred to as “The Next Seven Generations.” Presenter James Pete will be sharing from a traditional and cultural standpoint that includes the multi-generational and historical trauma faced by the Anishinaabe, as well as the recovery and healing needed to retain Anishinaabe traditions, culture, and language. Dates and Details Thursday, January 30, 2025 6:30pm – 8:30pm The cost of this retreat is $25. This is a virtual retreat offered via Zoom. A basic familiarity with Zoom is expected of participants. About the Facilitator James Pete is a member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin, from the Migizi Dodam (Eagle Clan). He has served on the Red Cliff Tribal Council, including as the Vice-Chairperson and Tribal Treasurer. He has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Master’s in Organizational Management, a Doctorate in Business Administration, and been Adjunct Faculty for several universities. James said it wasn’t until he started on his journey into sobriety in 1992 that he was able to fully appreciate and understand the strength of his Traditions.
