Jazz Legend Brian Lynch at the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts on May 3

This is a very special benefit performance, with all proceeds going towards the Jazz Gallery's building renovations. . Brian Lynch grew up in Milwaukee, attended Nicolet High School and graduated from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. He’ll be joined onstage by a group of well-known veteran Milwaukee and Chicago jazz musicians: Mark Davis on piano, Joey Sanchez playing bass, Dave Bayles on drums, and Yorvanis Duran handling the percussion. The Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts is a non-profit organization and venue dedicated to an eclectic mix of the visual and performing arts. The JGCA has embarked on an ambitious fund-raising effort which will culminate in renovating both the interior and exterior of its historic building at 926 E. Center Street; proceeds from Brian Lynch’s show will go towards those rehab efforts. In addition to the music on tap, Lynch has generously donated autographed packages of his CDs which will be available to attendees who make donations at the JGCA’s renovation fundraiser. At the conclusion of Brian Lynch’s set around 9:30, there will be a socializing period with music provided by Tael Estremera on piano and Jeff Hamann on bass. A variety of refreshments will be available, in both liquid (beer, wine, and mocktails) and solid form (cheese, vegies, and fruit). Brian Lynch is one of the great music success stories to come out of Milwaukee: he’s worked in both hard bop and Latin jazz styles; been nominated 6 times for Grammy© Awards (with two wins!); played alongside some of the biggest names in jazz, both onstage and in the studio; been a bandleader and recording artist with over 20 critically acclaimed CDs released; and received numerous accolades as an educator (he’s currently Professor of Jazz and Studio Music at the University of Miami).
