German Youth Orchestra Makes U.S. Tour Debut in Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra (MMO) welcomes the Jugendzupforchester Baden-Württemberg (JZObw), a premier youth mandolin orchestra from Germany, and we're honored to host over twenty musicians in Milwaukee! Don’t miss this rare chance to hear two mandolin orchestras in harmony - and to celebrate a cross-cultural collaboration that bridges generations, genres, and geography. The two orchestras will each play music in their unique styles, and will join together as a combined group. TWO MANDOLIN ORCHESTRAS! TWO CONCERTS! TWO VENUES! Tuesday, April 22 at 7:00 PM | Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery, 917 W Juneau Ave, Milwaukee $10 in advance on website | $15 at the door Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 PM | Fox Point Lutheran Church. 7510 S. Santa Monica Blvd., Fox Point $5 in advance on website | $10 at the door About the MMO: Originally formed in 1900, the MMO is the oldest continuously operating mandolin orchestra in the United States. In recent years we’ve represented Milwaukee and its music traditions in concerts as far away as Italy, Austria, and Japan. Our conductor, Rene Izquierdo, UWM professor of classical guitar in the Peck School of the Arts, has expanded our repertoire to include music spanning the Americana, Cuban, Brazilian, and European traditions. About the JZObw: The Jugendzupforchester Baden-Württemberg is a youth selection orchestra made up of award-winning young musicians ages 15–27, under the baton of Isabel González Villar. Known throughout Europe and South America for their captivating performances, this marks their first tour thanks to the financial support of the Goethe-Institut to the United States. The MMO first connected with JZObw in 2022 at the inaugural Venice Mandolin Festival, and we are delighted to reunite with them for this international musical exchange from both sides of the Atlantic.
