The New Guard Big Band is Phoenix’s premier jazz orchestra, comprised of the most talented and in-demand musicians in the Valley. Focusing primarily on the works of Count Basie and his Famous Orchestra, this 17-piece ensemble (managed and rehearsed by Kevin Tangney) is a musical freight train full of swagger and swing.
Desert City Jazz is a vibrant, swinging ensemble that brings together people of all walks of life to celebrate music, talent, and diversity. It holds a special place for the LGBTQ and Friends Community. Director Mary Petrich brings her love for jazz and community to perform a variety of jazz styles from swing to bebop to latin.
