Advance Digital Printing with Richard Jackson

Printmaking becomes an ever more critical component of your artistic endeavor as a photographer when printing for client sales and exhibitions. Seeing your image on a monitor and transitioning your image to a print on paper are two entirely different experiences. This workshop concentrates on visualization and translation of your image from the computer to a paper print as your image moves beyond simply what you see on your monitor. During this intense three-day workshop, you will acquire a much deeper understanding about how to visualize the transition from monitor to print as you edit your images and make prints. Additionally, you will learn how to conceptualize your image as a finished artwork when seen in the display environment of your choice. In our digital world we are not attuned to or have the experience of looking at our images as prints on paper. We start looking at an image first on our camera’s monitor, then on our computer monitor. When photographers start making prints, they are many times disappointed because the print doesn’t “feel” like what they have seen on their monitor or what might be in their head/expectation of the image as a print.
