Discover the Art and Science of Cyanotype at a community event through our partnership with West Memphis School District.
Join us at DeltaARTS on April 5th from 10 AM to 12 PM for a free art lesson that blends creativity with history and science!
Cyanotype, one of the oldest photographic processes, was invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel, a British scientist. This unique technique uses sunlight to create stunning blueprints—perfect for artists and nature enthusiasts alike! Initially used for reproducing architectural plans, cyanotype has since evolved into a beloved artistic medium.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to create beautiful blue images using light-sensitive paper and everyday objects. As you explore this fascinating process, you’ll uncover the science behind photosynthesis and light exposure, making for an enriching experience that’s fun for all ages!
Whether you’re an experienced artist or new to the world of art, this lesson is designed for everyone. Bring your creativity and let the sunlight bring your ideas to life!
Don’t miss this free opportunity to dive into the world of cyanotype and create something truly unique. We can’t wait to see you there! Please register so we can make sure to have adequate supplies for everyone to make their own creations. We hope for sunshine, but if it's cloudy, we'll use black lights to develop the images.
