If the hustle and bustle, the tinsel and glitter of a 21st century Christmas makes you long for a simpler day, join the Bergen County Historical Society for their 41st Annual Colonial Christmas Concerts and Tavern Fare on Saturday, December 14th, or Sunday, December 15th at Historic New Bridge Landing.
Performances take place in the historically decorated 272-year-old Steuben House at 5:00 pm and 6:45 pm on Saturday and 3:00 pm and 4:45 pm on Sunday, where Linda Russell and Companie will whisk you back to Yuletides of yesteryear with the carols of your childhood and stories of Christmas past. Don’t delay, tickets sell out quickly!
You can stroll through the candlelit site to the Blackhorse Inn, open 4 pm -8 pm on Saturday and 3:30 pm- 7 pm on Sunday for a light supper or dessert of period favorites such as shepherd’s pie, soup with salad and a biscuit, Ploughman’s plate, English trifle, selection of Dutch sweets, cake donuts, and cider.
Take a moment to visit Sinterklaas in the Demarest House and don’t forget to stop in the gift shop for a unique and perfect present.
Concert admission: $35 non-members, $28 BCHS members. Seating is limited for each performance, advance purchase through the society’s website is recommended. Tavern fare is at an additional cost.
