World Migratory Bird Day is a celebration of birds and their incredible migration routes that transport them across continents. This year’s theme is ‘Every bird counts. Your observations matter.’
Event Highlights:
• Two guided birdwatching hikes led by Mary Murrell and Jeff Galligan at 8am
• Family-friendly activities led by the Monona Public Library, including readings by local authors and the Book Bike being available, 9am - noon
• More family-friendly activities led by Aldo Leopold Nature Center, including bird yoga and learning about the Merlin/eBird app.
• Kid-friendly bird scavenger hunt
• Ryan Buron, UW-Madison PhD Candidate in Wildlife Ecology, will give two presentations in the Frank Allis House: 'Birds as Sentinels of Climate Change' at 10am, and 'Birds in the 'Burbs: Challenges and Opportunities for Migratory Birds in Urban Landscapes' at 11am.
