A closing reception for The Future Is A Well-Traveled Track exhibit featuring the works of Pa,Sacio Davinci, Guan Rong and Ursula Brookbank. Witness TANK (The Autonomous Novelty Kiosk), a mechanized moving panorama experiment, make its FINAL REVOLUTIONS. Watch NEVER BEFORE SEEN films based on the Shenyang Pacific Limited Express Diagrams of Guan Rong and Ursula Brookbanks's Wheary Peepers. Consume burgers and Westerns by Pa,Sacio Davinci, including his iconic short movie THE FIRST BLACK COWBOY OF THE 21ST CENTURY. A closing reception barbecue for The Future Is A Well-Traveled Track exhibit, featuring the works of Pa,Sacio Davinci, Guan Rong and Ursula Brookbank. To celebrate the exhibit, inspired by 19th and early 20th century visual spectacles, aethetics of train travel and protocinematic devices, the Velaslavasay Panorama screens a selection of cinematic works the artists while Pa,Sacio Davinci grills burgers for guests in the garden on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. The screening features a selection of western genre movies from The King Show, Davinci’s public access programs dating back to the late 1990s starring the South LA neighborhood, weaving Hollywood tropes with hallucinogenic visuals that expand beyond the limits of everyday filmmaking. Davinci has spent over 28 years making art, music and movies that integrate humor, parody, ironic cultural references and found footage, using “amateur” camera work along with repetition methodologies like those pioneered by visionary filmmakers Bruce Conner, Ina Diane Archer and Chick Strand. In addition to The King Show movies, short films will be screened by artists Ursula Brookbank, Guan Rong and Josie Jensen, highlighting the spectral and shadowy illusions of early cinematic devices.
