For artist Jason Rhoades (1965 – 2006), who adopted LA as his hometown, the car was a vehicle of artistic pursuit, both readymade sculpture and American idol. DRIVE, an ever-changing exhibition exploring Rhoades’ Car Projects, opened in February 2024 and has unfolded over a series of thematic iterations, starting with The Parking Space, and then going into The Pit, The Racetrack, and now arriving in its final stage The Garage.
Celebrate this yearlong exploration and experience The Garage at SATURDAY DRIVE – a daylong program that features a book launch of a new Rhoades publication by Hauser & Wirth Publishers, a Learning activation with partner The Big Draw, a talk with LA-based artists who use cars in their own work, and a celebration with Curate LA, LA’s most comprehensive art discovery platform, marking their 10 year anniversary with music by BROWNSKINHAZEL.
All events are free to attend. Join us for the whole day or pick and choose events. Registration is not required but recommended. Click here to register.
