Photographs offers a remarkable selection of works charting the medium’s evolution, from groundbreaking early practitioners to contemporary artists at the cutting edge of experimental practices. Featured highlights include Nobuyoshi Araki's Yakuza 1998 from Tokyo Comedy, Alex Prager's Emily, and Gertrude Käsebier's 1905 portrait of Auguste Rodin, along with works from Nan Goldin, William Eggleston, Lucas Samaras, Robert Frank, Gabriel Orozco, Jack Pierson, Mitch Epstein, John Divola, Cindy Sherman, and many others.
Within the auction, a number of the works offered (Lots 274- 324) will benefit Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles (PAC LA). A leading independent resource for artists, curators, scholars, and the public at large, PAC LA has worked for more than ten years to foster the evolving discourse of photography and photo-based art through unique programming and community building.
