"The History of Punk"
Pellissippi State Community College Professor Rus Harper, a long-time punk rocker, will discuss the punk scene from his perspective — the local and nationally famous bands that have performed in Knoxville, some harrowing adventures Harper and his musical friends have had in Knoxville and throughout the south, and Harper's interactions with punk luminaries such as Iggy Pop, Joey Ramone, Patti Smith, Dead Kennedys, Henry Rollins, Black Flag and The Circle Jerks.
In addition, Harper and his band, The Knoxville Freaks, will perform.
This lecture/performance is free and open to the public. Please be aware that some of the language of punk can be quite strong.
