The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Knoxville-First Flotilla, will present the BOAT AMERICA recreational boating safety course on Saturday, May 10th, at Christ Covenant Church at 12915 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37934.
Taught by experienced, certified Coast Guard Auxiliarists, you will learn how to prepare, operate, and navigate your boat safely on local waters. Questions are strongly encouraged during class, and the instructors will be available for additional boating questions after class. Our goal is to help make boating as safe as possible for you, your family, and your friends through education.
Attendees born on or after January 1, 1989, who pass the exam will receive a completion card that fulfills the Tennessee Boater Education Certificate requirements. Those who need the Tennessee Boater Education Certificate must first obtain a TWRA registration, which costs $10.00, and pay it separately to the issuing agency, such as Walmart or Academy Sports. This TWRA registration must be brought to class. The course fee is $25, which is separate from the TWRA registration fee and must be paid by cash or check at the time of class.
The registration deadline for the class is May 7th. To register for the class or for more details, please contact Mr. Randy Woods, Flotilla Staff Officer for Public Education, at randallwoods.uscgaux@gmail.com.
