Mike McGill's 12th Annual Christmas Spectacular
On December 22, Mike McGill's Christmas Spectacular will once again grace the Knoxville Bijou stage. In addition to the man himself, this year’s guest list includes Knoxville legends Michael Cover, Jodie Manross, Sara Schwabe, and Matt Wood as well as an amazing backing band of some of Knoxville’s finest musicians.
While the Christmas Spectacular is a great night out, it’s also an important fundraiser for the East Tennessee Second Harvest Food Bank’s Food for Kids program. Food for Kids comprises a multi-year collaboration between Second Harvest and public schools within their 18-county service area. The program provides healthy, easily-prepared food to many of the most vulnerable children in our community. In the wake of recent natural disasters in our region, this year the need is even greater than usual.
When asked why he chose to partner with Second Harvest for this cause, McGill explains, “Basically, $1 creates three meals. They run at 95 percent efficiency.”
With the funds raised through ticket sales and sponsorships, as of 2023 the Christmas Spectacular has been able to provide nearly 100,000 meals to hungry children!
