Angie Zhang's solo program highlights the rich diversity of classical piano repertoire, blending Philip Glass’ striking Etude No. 6, Margaret Bond’s soulful Troubled Water, Caroline Shaw’s Gustave Le Gray with Frederic Chopin’s Mazurka in A minor, Op. 17, No. 4 interweaved, and finishing with Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, making for a captivating musical menu.
She will be joined by the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra after intermission to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major, K. 271, a piece that captures the spirit of a 21-year-old composer on the brink of greatness.
Angie holds BM and MM degrees in Piano Performance with honors from Juilliard and received the Peter Mennin Award for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music upon graduation. She earned a concurrent MM in Fortepiano Performance and DMA in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan and was presented with the Earl V. Moore award for top graduates upon graduation. From her base in Los Angeles and New York City, she travels around the world to perform, and is thrilled to be reunited this season with prior collaborators Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and Dover Quartet.
