Kumu Kahua Theatre presents Southernmost by Mary Lyon Kamitaki from January 23 - February 23, 2025. Southernmost tells the story of retired fisherman Wally Chaves, who lives with his wife Becky in the hills of Kaʻu at the southernmost tip of the Big Island. Planting keiki trees for a coffee farm gives him new life. When daughter Charlene visits with her girlfriend Jessica, everything begins to get unstable. But when earthquakes start to really shake things up, should they stay or should they go?
Directed by Harry Wong III, the production features a stellar cast including Allan Okubo, Ember Isabelo, Sanae Tokumura, Stu Hirayama, and Violette Skilling. Tickets are on sale at www.kumukahua.org or by contacting the box office at (808) 536- 4441. Showtimes will be offered on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm. As there will be no show on Super Bowl Sunday, a special matinee performance is available on Saturday, February 8th at 2pm. Audiences can also catch a Talk Story session with the cast and crew on January 31st following the performance.
