Join us for a special free reading honoring Jolene Goldenthal, who turns 104 this November, and her remarkable creative legacy, including as the Founding Artistic Director of the Hartford Playwrights Inc and an art critic for The Hartford Courant.
Goldenthal’s Describing Life: Monologs for Women is a poignant and perceptive collection giving voice to women grappling with identity, relationships, and self-determination. Each character embodies both anxiety and strength, and each carries a piece of the author’s spirit, confronting society’s expectations and choosing to move forward.
The event celebrates not only her milestone birthday but also her enduring voice as a creator of complex, resilient female characters — women who suffer, survive, and ultimately move forward.
