Berlin artist Eddie Hall is excited to share an exhibition titled Reframed at the Barney Library in Farmington from April 21 to May 30. This show features twenty-three artworks created over the last three years painting on reclaimed house windows. These works are the result of experimentation with glass painting techniques and the work in the show combines rigid hard-edge painting with themes of architectural abstraction and design. The result is a body of work exhibiting bold colors that delves into the interplay between matte painted surfaces and glass.
Eddie is currently pursuing the impossible goal of exhibiting at every library with a gallery in Connecticut. He started with his local library in Berlin earlier this year and by early next year will have shown in six town libraries throughout Connecticut. “Libraries serve as important spaces in our communities where everyone has equal access to information. I found after my first library show, I really loved that so many people were seeing my work that would not normally find themselves in an art gallery or museum. It was really fulfilling to know that my work may be serving as a backdrop for a town meeting, a children’s storytime, or a local club. Connecticut has so many towns and libraries, it will take me years to chip away at them and I can only hope to keep working at this long enough to get close.”
There will be a special event during the exhibition on May 17 from 2-4pm, open to the public, The Shape of Words — a poetry workshop and readings hosted by Kelly Fowler and including a reception for this exhibit with a brief artist discussion from Eddie Hall. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
Whether you're a seasoned poet or a beginner, this interactive session is for all. You'll participate in creative exercises to spark your writing and receive guided prompts to help you express your thoughts. You will have the opportunity to read your own poems, whether created during the workshop or previously written. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow poetry enthusiasts, gain feedback, and get inspired! Feel free to bring a favorite poem or any original work you'd like to share. We can't wait to hear your voice!
Regular hours for the library are Monday - Saturday 9am-5pm. The artwork will be located in the Hoppin Gallery upstairs.
