Carlisle Town Band Christmas Concert


The Carlisle Town Band will present a wide range of reverent and joyous holiday music at its annual Christmas concert. The concert will take place Sunday, December 14, at 4 p.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church Activity Center, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle. Under the direction of David Rohrer, the band will perform several compositions honoring the “reason for the season,” including A Winter’s Carol, an arrangement of O Come, O Come Emmanuel by Mark Williams; Candlelight Carol, a lullaby composed by John Rutter and arranged for concert band by Jay Dawson; Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head, an Appalachian folk carol arranged by Tom Wallace; The First Noel, an arrangement by Jeff Simmons that combines The First Noel and Pachlebel’s Canon; and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by Johann Sebastian Bach. Also featured in the program are a number of lively, popular standards celebrating the Christmas season. They include A Fireside Christmas, a medley of Winter Wonderland, Christmas Lullaby, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas arranged by James Swearingen; Jingle Bells; Dashing Through the Snow, a variation on Jingle Bells arranged by Richard Saucedo; The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, arranged by John Moss; and Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride. Admission and parking are free.
