Join the Friends of the Fox River Trail to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Our beloved Fox River trail was completed and opened in 2001 due in part to the Rails to Trails grassroots movement that transformed abandoned railroads into public trails for walking and cycling.
To commemorate the anniversary, Friends of Fox River trail will show the new documentary, “From Rails to Trails,” a production of From Rails to Trails Film, LLC, and distributed by American Public Television.
Edward Norton narrates the story of one of the most unlikely social movements in American history: the struggle to convert thousands of miles of abandoned railroads into trails for cycling and walking. Facing fierce opposition and legal challenges from private property owners, leaders fought to reclaim these corridors for the public, creating a national network of scenic, car-free paths.
Following the documentary, a panel discussion will take place with local advocates, elected officials, and municipal staff members who were instrumental in making the Fox River Trail a reality in 2001.
The Friends of the Fox River Trail (Friends FRT) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping the Brown County Parks Department with the maintenance and upkeep of the Fox River State Recreational Trail in Brown County.
