The Theater Shop in conjunction with The UnClub takes over the Ypsi Alehouse in Ypsilanti, Michigan for this unique one night only event. Ypsi Alehouse is an award-winning microbrew pub and restaurant. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase, as well as a special event food menu.
Jake Russell is a proud Detroiter, comedian, improviser and writer. Creator of the stand up/improv show 'I Ain’t No Joke' and one man show 'Birth of a Ho' Ass Nation', he has performed stand up and improv on stages across the country, including long-form and short-form improv. An alumnus of Go Comedy Theatre, he went on to become a resident cast member and then a member of their teaching staff. He’s the comic the other comedians gather round to hear.
He’s also a sneaker enthusiast.
Jake has performed at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle, the Independent in Hamtramck, the Blind Pig, The House of Comedy, and the Traverse City Comedy Festival and is a winner of the Comedy Rumble. He produces and hosts the shows 'I Ain't No Joke' and 'Represent' monthly at Go Comedy, and his one-man show 'Birth of a Ho' Ass Nation' has intrigued and captured the imagination of theater audiences and at the Chicago Sketch Festival.
Skippy Rose is a native Detroiter and a new mom. As a former circus performer, she brings a chipper animated style contrasting with unexpectedly twisted analogies that’ll turn your frown upside down! Skippy has appeared on Jackie Kashian's Dork Forest Podcast, featured for Rob Mailloux and Jesse Singh, opened for Mike Stanley and Isabel Hagen, and has performed at the Brewing for Comedy Windsor Comedy Festival and Detroit Women of Comedy Festival.
Brandi Alexander is a comedian by night and a high school teacher by day. Some people go to a therapist when they need to work out their issues, Brandi Alexander picks up a microphone. Brandi hits the stage with a sturdy mixture of confidence and sass. She jokes about dating to make ends meet, the pervasiveness of urban farming, the perils of dating college boys and even offers advice on checking your date’s Netflix history to ensure they aren’t a serial killer. She makes her rounds on the Chicago comedy circuit and beyond, performing at some of the top clubs in the region such as, Zanies in Chicago, the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase, and Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle.
Lisa Green is a queer stand-up comedian from Ypsilanti, Michigan. Drawing from a unique and offbeat perspective combining academia, mental illness, goth subculture, and queer joy, all from an internet-raised Millennial scope, Lisa's observational comedy shines with a touch of blue humor, occasional dark jokes, and clever wordplay. They have appeared at a variety of shows in the Michigan comedy scene, including Jester's Court Comedy Festival, Fem Feedback, and Blind Pig Comedy Show. They run their own hometown comedy brand with Depot Town Comedy, which hosts weekly open mics and some booked shows in the Ypsilanti area. When Lisa isn't performing onstage, they're working hard as a grad student at Eastern Michigan University.
