As part of its yearlong bicentennial celebration, Ypsilanti First United Methodist Church welcomes the UniSong Chorale for a live performance in the church's historic sanctuary. This ensemble is composed of singers from various parts of Michigan representing multiple ages, cultures, faith traditions, and ideologies. Dr. Matthew Packer directs the ensemble; he is on the music faculty at Mott Community College in Flint, is music director for the Flint Male Chorus, and directs the chancel choir at Fenton United Methodist Church. The Ypsilanti performance is a prelude to their June 29 performance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall as part of the MidAmerica Productions 2025 season, where they will participate in performances of Jake Runestad’s “Into the Light” and Morten Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna.” There is no admission charge for the June 8 concert; there will be a free will offering. Ypsilanti First United Methodist Church is located at 209 Washtenaw Ave, Ypsilanti, 48197.
