The Emerald Earring by Justin Nostrala
West Des Moines, Iowa – Tallgrass Theatre presents the World Premiere of The Emerald Earring, written by local playwright Justin Nostrala and directed by Jennifer Nostrala. The show is the 10th Annual Sarah Frank & Jack Balcombe Dream Project and runs April 18-May 4, 2025.
The discovery of an earring in the back of a husband's car leads to suspicion, accusation, coverup, and challenges in a couple's marriage. At the center of it all, Claire, is forced to confront the contrast between her belief in her marriage, and her feelings on the current state of reproductive rights in the United States.
Set in Texas in 2022 and today, The Emerald Earring focuses on how Claire comes to terms with her belief system and how she wants to live in the world. Her decision to help a young woman get an abortion becomes the catalyst for her transformation and sense of self-realization.
