Paul Lewis, piano

Internationally acclaimed pianist Paul Lewis returns to the FCM stage to open FCM’s Piano Series, launching his US tour in Denver with his thoughtfully curated program “Mozart+.” Renowned for his masterful interpretations of the Central European repertoire, Lewis pairs Mozart’s lesser-known piano works with music by Debussy and Poulenc, illuminating Mozart’s far-reaching influence and giving fresh attention to pieces often overshadowed by his concertos. From the lyricism of the Sonata in C Major (K. 330) and the drama of the Sonata in C Minor (K. 457) to the wit and charm of Poulenc’s Improvisations, Lewis’s program is a vivid showcase of both virtuosic brilliance and deep musical insight. About Paul Lewis: British pianist Paul Lewis is widely celebrated as one of today’s leading interpreters of the Central European piano tradition, earning international acclaim for his Beethoven and Schubert performances and recordings. He appears regularly with the world’s top orchestras—from the Berlin Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where he served as the 2020 Koussevitzky Artist at Tanglewood. Known for deep, thoughtfully curated projects, Lewis has toured major Schubert and Beethoven cycles worldwide and will launch a global Mozart+ series in 2026–27. His award-winning discography on Harmonia Mundi showcases his distinctive insight across Romantic repertoire, and his artistic life also includes close chamber collaborations and co-directing the UK’s Midsummer Music Festival. In 2025 he became the first non-American pianist to chair the jury of The Cliburn International Piano Competition. Tickets are available at friendsofchambermusic.com or via phone at 303-871-7720.
