Beethoven Masterworks with the Brentano Quartet

One of the world’s most celebrated string quartets returns to Denver this spring. The distinguished Brentano Quartet will perform an all-Beethoven program for Friends of Chamber Music Denver on Monday, April 6 at 7:30 PM in Gates Concert Hall at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. Making their first FCM appearance since 2016, the Brentano Quartet brings more than three decades of artistry and international acclaim to this highly anticipated performance. Praised by The New Yorker as “fiercely intelligent and expressively pristine,” the ensemble has performed across five continents and at many of the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals. The April 6 program highlights three masterworks from Beethoven’s quartet repertoire: • Quartet No. 1 in F major, Op. 18, No. 1 • Quartet No. 10 in E-flat major, Op. 74 “Harp” • Quartet No. 9 in C major, Op. 59, No. 3 “Razumovsky” Together, these works showcase Beethoven’s evolution from the elegance of his early works to the bold, expansive expression of his “heroic decade”—brought to life by an ensemble known for its “remarkable capacity for magical ensemble playing...” —The Washington Post
