LUKI's Card Circus: Season One
Each Wednesday, LUKI’s Card Circus brings a different classic card game into the taproom. Some widely known but rarely taught, others nearly forgotten outside small circles of players or family traditions.
These are not novelty bar games or one-night gimmicks. They are real, time-tested card games with established rules and history. These are games you can learn once and continue playing with friends and family long after the night and our season of games end.
This season’s lineup includes:
31 After Dark – based on the traditional game 31 (also known as Scat) - March 11
Highwire Hearts – a strategic variation on classic Hearts - March 18
Climb the Canvas – inspired by the climbing game Zhēng Shàngyóu - March 25
Pints & Pegs – built on the enduring strategy of Cribbage - April 1
Jackpot Euchre – rooted in traditional Euchre - April 8
Backfire Poker – adapted from Ricochet-style poker variants - April 15
The Grand Bourrée – drawn from the Cajun trick-taking game Bourrée - April 22
The Final Table - April 29, Colorado Pint Day!
While we may adjust scoring or structure for the Card Circus season, the core rules remain true to the original game.
Lessons are offered at the top of each hour, making this an easy point of entry for anyone curious about learning something new. Play in a single week for a chance to win prizes, or join the larger challenge: over seven weeks, players can build their standing through consistent play and skill, culminating in a Week Eight final table where a combination of top players... and some selected by raffle... return to compete for a LUKI gift card and the title of Ringmaster of the Midway!
