Jefferson Humanists and the Secular Hub are proud to sponsor Fish Stark, Executive Director of the American Humanist Association, in two events in Denver. Both events will be opportunities for members of Jefferson Humanists, the Secular Hub, or anyone interested in Humanism, to meet Fish and hear about his plans for a dynamic AHA. Jefferson Humanists and the Secular Hub are chapters of the American Humanist Association. Sunday, February 23, 4 – 6:30pm. Jefferson Humanists sponsor Fish Stark at the Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 W 32nd Ave, Golden, CO 80401. Fish will speak on Humanists Move America: How & Why Humanist Ideas Power America Now. How has Humanism helped shape America in the past and how can it in the future? What will Fish and the AHA do to help protect our separation of church and state and help fight for the rights of all, particularly in the next four years? How can we work with AHA to help? We will gather at 4pm, with the presentation at 4:30, followed by open Q&A. Join us for beverages (donation suggested) and bring an appetizer or dessert for all to share following the presentation. Fish Stark, Executive Director of the American Humanist Association (AHA), is a lifelong organizer, educator, social entrepreneur, and lifelong Humanist. The son of Representative Pete Stark – the first open non-theist in Congress – Stark brings an impressive array of experience to the Executive Director role. He has a professional background leading high-performing teams at global non-profits, tech start-ups, and political campaigns. Stark holds degrees from Harvard and Yale. A self-proclaimed developmental psychology nerd, Stark is passionate about giving everyone the tools to live lives of meaning, service, and self-determination. In accepting the position as Executive Director of the AHA, Stark said, “Humanism is about respecting the limitless worth and dignity of every person, lifting people up, and protecting everyone’s right to think and live freely. But today there are threats to our secular democracy, trying to tell us how to live our lives and that some people count more than others. That’s why AHA’s work is more important than ever.” Join us on February 23 to hear Fish Stark help us move forward in this current challenging environment. Please RSVP on this Meetup or email [email protected] so we are sure to set up enough chairs for our audience. ------------------------------------------- Saturday, February 22, 4:30 to 7:00 pm, Secular Hub, 254 N.
