Foothills Genealogical Society Meeting and Program

Get ready to be a detective! Learn how from Genealogy Researcher Marylee Hagen’s search for her adopted daughter’s birth parents. They were unknown and they remained a mystery for years. During that time, health records would have saved her family many heartaches. Then, in January, 2018, Colorado opened their original birth certificates. Using many different techniques, Hagen finally located her daughter’s biological parents who did not do DNA. Find out what is --- and is not --- available in Colorado and in other states. Many of her ideas can help you find those lost people in your family tree! Hagen has been a Genealogical Researcher since 1995 and, since 2002, a presenter on research in Norway, Ireland, and the U. S. as well as adoption. She has traveled and researched extensively in Ireland and Norway. A 29 year member of Sons of Norway, she has held the offices of president and genealogy and cultural skills coordinators. A past Ireland representative for Wales-Ireland-Scotland-England Family History Society (WISE-FHS), she is also an organizer and presenter for the Colorado Irish Festival. Guests are welcome for this free hybrid presentation at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12. There is ample parking and accessible entrance at Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, 2035 Ellis St., Golden, CO, 80401.
