Follow your guide through town as you learn about Waynesville’s Quaker roots and the vital role our community played in the Underground Railroad. Hear the stories of brave abolitionists, explore locations that once held secret rooms and hidden tunnels, and walk the very path where courage and hope met in secret. This guided walking tour begins at the gazebo at 274 S Main Street, covers approximately one mile along sidewalks in historic Downtown Waynesville, and lasts about ninety minutes. Please note, this event will sell out early | Registration is required at friendshomemuseum.org | $20 per person | Tickets are nonrefundable | All proceeds benefit the Museum at the Friends Home Several tour dates have been thoughtfully scheduled to coincide with the popular Street Faire in historic downtown Waynesville, offering visitors the perfect opportunity to turn their tour into a full day experience. After stepping into history, guests can enjoy everything the Street Faire has to offer, including live music, food trucks, and a vibrant outdoor market featuring local vendors. Visitors are also encouraged to explore Waynesville’s charming historic district, known for its unique shops, antiques, and welcoming small town atmosphere. It is the perfect way to continue the experience by strolling from shop to shop and enjoying all that downtown Waynesville has to offer. Tickets are now available for May through September tours.
