Two Spring Concerts: Classical Guitar and Cello April 30 & May 1

The April 30 concert “Six Strings Paintings” will be a solo guitar concert featuring Ms. Passiatore, an award-winning musician who is Professor of Classical Guitar at the Liceo Musicale “F. De Sanctis” of Cervinara, Italy. Passiatore’s focus is on historical performance practice and original guitar repertoire of the Romantic Period and the early 20th century. Passiatore often performs with gut strings and without nails, looking for a varied spectrum in terms of instrumental colors. Her concert will include Sonate per chitarra n. 33, 34, 35 by Pagnini and Bolero y Solea by Julian Arcas, which is describes the landscapes of Spain through its powerful and iconic dance, the Bolero. The May 1 concert “Oriental Sound Poetry” will be a duo concert of Passiatore and Mastromatteo. This concert will include a World Premiere of Lucera negli occhi di un bambino (2024) by Elltore Figliola (1980) and an American Premiere of Nel Tuo Sorriso by Joseph Tusiani (1924–2024).
