Poetics for Peace
Poetics for Peace is an interdisciplinary, intercultural, multilingual celebration of music, dance, poetry with ensemble as solo performances showcasing traditions from South Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, New Spain, and the Caribbean, as aesthetic offerings for peaceful coexistence across borders and continents. Live music and choreographed movement representing the cultural communities referenced will be interspersed with selected works by iconic poets, presented in Hindi-Urdu, Spanish, and more, with English translations. Members of Sangeet Millennium Ensemble will collaborate with Dallas musicians, dancers, and spoken word artists including Flamenco Fever, Jamal Mohamed Ensemble, the Hathor Experience, Vision Andina, and Hadi Jawad. Each respective ensemble will offer their own performances, with everyone joining in a group jam at the end.
